Staying Busy

Well, we have been staying busy as usual but I thought I would post a few pictures of our latest adventures. Some of you may know that Julian was raising Painted Lady Butterflies in a netted habitat. We received the caterpillars by mail and were able to watch as they made their cocoons. We then transferred the cocoons into the butterfly habit so they could emerge and be able to fly around. It was a really neat process and Julian really enjoyed it!! Once the butterflies came out of the cocoon, we fed them by soaking fresh flowers in a mixture of sugar and water and placing them in the bottom of the habitat. Just in case anyone was curious, butterflies have extremely long tongues that allow them to sip the water from the flowers!! The pictures below are of us releasing them into our front yard.

The other pics are just random and from our visit to the pool at the Beachcomber Hotel while our friends Jason and Danielle were visiting from North Carolina! Good times!!

Julian's 6th Birthday

Julian's Superhero/Comic Book themed 6th birthday party was a great success last Saturday and he thoroughly enjoyed himself!! We have such a large family and group of friends that I jokingly compare Julian's birthday parties to a small wedding! In fact, I have actually planned weddings with far fewer guests now that I think about it! We used the community room at Five Towns again this year which works out great since they have all the tables and chairs there already and a pool we can use! There is also a huge kitchen which is helpful when you are trying to feed anywhere from 80 to 100 people!! We had a great turnout of kids from his school which was awesome since the kids won't see each other as much anymore. (For those of you who don't know, the school Julian has attended for the past 4 years closed at the end of May) There was lots of food and cake and cupcakes and everyone wore themselves out playing the pool!

Welcome to Blogging!!

Ok, so my friend Amber has been after me forever to start writing a blog. Now, I have a feeling mine won't be nearly as detailed or up-to-date as hers is but I will at least make the attempt!! I often find that my crazy and wonderful family and our adventures through the wonderland of life can be quite entertaining so here we go...

Wish me luck..
